When did you start writing and why?
I joined a creative writing group. Somehow I became an author! I still attend that very same writers group!
What is your favourite book that you’ve written?
Aliens Love Underpants (illustrated by Ben Cort) as it really set off my career. I also enjoyed writing Oliver and Patch (illustrated by Kate Hindley) as it really came from my heart.

What were you like as a child?
I always had my head in a book. I also loved sports and making things.
What superpower would you like to have?
The gift of healing.
Do you have any pets or what imaginary pet would you have?
I had a beautiful cat named Sherry who lived for 21 years. My imaginary pet would probably be a fluffy baby penguin.
Where do you write or draw and what do you use?
I write in my little office overlooking our road so I can see what’s happening outside. I always write by hand on plain paper – never lined.

What happens in your virtual author sessions?
After an introduction – including saying hello to some of my ‘furry friends’ – I will read one (or more) of my stories to the children and then we’ll have a Q & A session. I try and inspire a love and passion for books!
What’s the best thing about being an author or illustrator?
Talking to my readers and seeing them laugh and enjoy my books.
What’s your favourite book to read?
My favourite book as a child was A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I still love it years later!
And finally, what’s your top writing tip?
Read, read, read as many current books in your chosen genre. Then use your own voice when you write.
